HEALTHCARE VOLUNTEER PROJECT needed for 1 to 3 months
Opportunity Description: Overview of the Project As health authorities in Ghana are seriously working hard to improve the health system in Ghana, so as R.V.O-Ghana has taking it upon ourselves to assist with the improvement of the health services in Ghana by inviting trained and pre-trained health professionals and volunteers with the interest across the world to come and volunteer in some of the health centers of Ghana. Most of these placements are in the poor communities in Ghana where health professionals are needed most. R.V.O-Ghana organizes placement for volunteers who are interested in working at the childcare and maternity hospital. In this project, volunteers are expected to work alongside the local Nurses and Doctors; The work is mostly depending on volunteer's level of knowledge, experience and skill. Through this project, we aim to increase access to basic healthcare for rural people, providing public health services in all aspects of clinical nursing, with a primary health work with the community nurses and promote health education in the villages. Role of a Volunteer The work is mostly depending on volunteer's level of knowledge, experience and skill. Volunteers would be mainly involved in care of patients, replacing bandages, checking blood pressure, first aid treatment, assisting in the delivery of babies, weighing of babies.• Assist doctors and nurses in local hospitals • Change bandage ,Deliveries • Take blood pressure • Educating people on basic prevention and first aid / healthcare education Health volunteers must have the proof of qualification as a health professional, medical student, doctor or nurse. Volunteers must have medical background to volunteer in this project. Pre-medical student must also indicate their interest on the application form. R.V.O-GHANA manages room/food for volunteer. Volunteers live with host families and we manage a separate room and local meals three times a day. Volunteer will also have regular visitation to project site and host family, 24hrs every week access to our office in Ghana and mobile number of our coordinators. Our staffs also visit volunteers every week as part of the program. Our Healthcare Project Locations and Descriptions RVO organize teaching project/Placement in all the regions of Ghana. Healthcare project in small and urban towns like Kumasi, Cape Coast, Accra, Brong Ahafo, Koforidua, Konongo, Nkawkaw, Sunyani, Tamale and Nsawam. In these towns you can find unique tourist attraction centers, shops where you can do shopping’s, banks, telephone booths and internet cafes available in these towns. Where volunteer can go for weekends and longer periods: Ghana is a land of cultural diversity and contrast. It has many cultural and unique tourist attraction centers to offer volunteers. Cape Coast is a true cultural and historical town, most tourist love traveling to this town because of the Elmina castle where slave trade begun, the Kakum Canopy walkway, the cape coast castle and the ancient buildings. R.V.O staff is ever ready to offer volunteers guidelines before traveling. A typical day of a volunteer in the Project 7 AM – 8 AM: Breakfast: Join nurses and doctors and Start Working in Clinic 9AM – 4 PM: Lunch break and Join nurses and doctors again Working in Clinic Evening: Free time. Volunteers can visit local pubs with their local host families or friends. Dates of Project: 1st and 15th of every month, and because this project is ongoing volunteers can choose their own available date to volunteer.

HIV AIDS VOLUNTEER PROJECT needed for 1 to 3 months
Opportunity Description: HIV / AIDS project In Africa, Hiv Aids and Malaria are the leading killer, killing most people as well as rendering most people orphans. It is in this regard that R.V.O.has establish link with local organization in Ghana, which are actively involved in the HIV AIDS Education and involve with community outreach programs such as educational programs etc. This R.V.O.project aims to prevent the transmission of HIV AIDS and to offer support to those affected by the disease. Volunteers in this project are mostly involved in taking care of people affected by the disease notably children and out reach education. Role of a Volunteer Orientation and training for the first week by local experts. In the following weeks, volunteers and local experts will be involved in: • Community education • Churches education • Schools education • Hairdresser's education • Shoemakers education • Markets/ Shopping centers education • Lorry parks demonstration activities to increase the awareness campaign in the Ghanaian communities. • Sometimes volunteers will engage in house-to-house education • Volunteers will sometimes spend time with those affected by the disease, by helping them to take their medicines regularly as well as giving them care and comfort. • Community education through drama. • Volunteers shall reach out to commercial sex workers / prostitutes at red right areas with the message of abstinence and condom use. There are no special qualification for this project ,but people with the passion to do aids education and presentation are required. R.V.O-GHANA manages room/food for volunteer. About RVO

The Robbooker Voluntary Organization (R.V.O-Ghana) was founded by Mr. Robert Booker an American Philanthropist and Richmond Amoakoh Ghanaian social worker in the year 2000. R.V.O-Ghana is registered in Kumasi, Ghana as a non for profit organization in the year 2000 with the following agencies in Ghana. Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), social Welfare of Ghana, Registrar Generals Dept. and National Youth council of Ghana.
R.V.O-Ghana is one of the fasters growing volunteer organization in Ghana. We are dedicated to providing meaningful and affordable volunteer projects across the length and breath of Ghana.

The idea was to enable people to use their leisure hours for the benefit of mankind through rural and urban community volunteering. R.V.O’s main activities were centered mainly on health, volunteering,community development and education.
This service took the form of participation in workcamps and individual volunteering for the realization more community development programs. People started crossing boundaries to join in the work of bringing new life, hope and ideas to remote places in rural and urban communities of Ghana.
Below are few of the programs offered by the R.V.O –Ghana:

Below are highlights of few programmes offered by the R.V.O –Ghana:
R.V.O-Ghana offer volunteers the opportunity to live and work with vulnerable / orphan children in Ghana.

R.V.O-Ghana also offer volunteers the opportunity to work with hundreds of local organizations actively involved with HIV AIDS education.
Other programmes offered by the R.V.O are: Teaching in Ghana, Health project for medical personal, medical and pre-medical students, Soccer coaching in Ghana, Language and cultural immersion, Drumming and dancing lessons, volunteer and work camps in rural communities.
